ENG-TECH Consulting Limited (ENG-TECH) has completed the requested geotechnical investigation and subsequent design in order to repair and reshape the slope at the top of the bank at 484 South Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba. The purpose of the design was to repair the tension crack in the upper slope and to reshape the slope at the top of the bank to reduce the potential formation of future tension cracks and improve the stability of the upper slope of the river bank. Repairing and preventing tension cracks will reduce the potential for hydraulic loading at the top of the bank, and will reduce the potential for significant increase in moisture content of the soils in the upper bank. Repairing the tension crack and reshaping the upper bank basically will not improve overall bank stability, or improve the stability of any large deep seated failure surfaces, but will reduce the potential for the stability to decrease. Briefly the geotechnical investigation consisted of a topographic survey, a subsurface investigation, riverbank stability analysis, preparation of associated figures and plans, and completion of this report.
