ENG-TECH Consulting Limited (ENG-TECH) completed the geotechnical investigation for the development of a 9600 finishing hog barn manure storage lagoon and building foundation in the Rural Municipality of Alonsa, NE 33-25-12 W1, approximately 13.73 kilometres North, and 4.91 kilometres East of Eddystone, Manitoba. ENG-TECH completed the requested geotechnical investigation for the proposed development of a hog barn and manure storage lagoon near EddyStone, Manitoba.
ENG-TECH understands that the project is in the planning stage requiring a technical report to be filed for application for a municipal conditional use permit and manure storage approval. Site plans have been provided which detail the proposed location of the lagoon and barn. It is understood the proposed manure storage lagoon is to be of deep pit construction and is to be sited in impermeable soils. In support of this document, ENG-TECH provided a geotechnical investigation and plans which will provide dimensions of the lagoon and conceptual construction design details. A detailed design of the lagoon and construction drawings could be provided at a later date. Given that the drilling equipment is onsite, ENG-TECH will also conduct a geotechnical investigation and provide recommendations for the hog barn building foundations, drainage, and concrete slab-on-grade floor for loading dock, driveways and concrete durability.
The purpose of the geotechnical investigation is to determine the soil profile and strata at selected borehole locations in the foot print of the proposed lagoon, and within the foot print of the hog barn, install two (2) monitoring wells in the vicinity of the proposed lagoon, comment on the soil permeability, conduct seepage modelling/analysis, and check the depth of water in the monitoring wells. In addition, provide recommendations for the optimum building location for the proposed barn and storage facility.
