ENG-TECH Consulting Limited (ENG-TECH) completed surveying and the supervision of the construction of a compacted clay trench for final certification of the flood protection work at 755, 759 and 761 North Drive in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The clay trench was built into a clay dike constructed by the owner on the south and east sides of the building known as 761 North Drive. Based on the field inspections and observations, ENG-TECH hereby certifies that all the flood protection work has been completed to our satisfaction. The as-built drawings depict the details of final construction of the compacted clay trench and flood protection work for the three (3) buildings.
The flood protection work consisted of a retaining wall on the north side of the site adjacent to 755 & 759 North Drive buildings and a compacted clay trench on the south side of the site adjacent to 761 North Drive building. The retaining wall is a Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall which consists of Barkman Pisa 2 interlocking blocks and reinforced high plastic clay. The compacted clay trench consists of a 1.5 m wide rectangular trench excavated into the existing dike against the 761 North Drive building wall. The trench was excavated from top of the dike down to 1.5 m below the existing parking lot elevation and was backfilled with hard compacted high plastic clay. The construction of the flood protection wall and the clay trench completed on December 13, 2017 and the final flood protection certification letter was submitted to the Planning Property and Development Department of the City of Winnipeg on December 28, 2017. Based on the regular inspections conducted at the site, ENG-TECH certifies that all the work has been completed to our satisfaction and the retaining wall and the compacted clay trench provide flood protection for 755, 759 and 761 North Drive buildings.
