Placement of Rip- Rap Along the Shorelines at 476, 480, 484, 488, 500, 506, 510, 512, 518, 522, 544 and 550 South Drive, Winnipeg, MB (01-045-01)
ENG-TECH Consulting Limited (ENG-TECH) has completed the above shoreline erosion protection project as outlined in the application. Overall, 4934 tonnes of limestone rip-rap was placed along approximately 340 m of shoreline at the above locations. The above rip-rap tonnage equates to approximately 2900 m3 using a multiplication factor of 1.7 tonnes per cubic metre. ENG-TECH provided full time site inspection services during the project, and confirms the rip-rap was placed in accordance with the design drawings previously forwarded to the City of Winnipeg. The down-stream end of the rip-rap was connected to the existing rip-rap down-stream of 484 South Drive, while the up-stream end of the rip-rap was tapered to provide a smooth transition from the rock to the shoreline.
The access route through 510 South Drive has been restored to near its original condition. However, due to frozen ground conditions, additional compaction and the planting of 3 trees (and wild grass) will take immediately following spring thaw.
